This week I was featured on the Wayne Kelly radio show, On Air Publicity after winning the weekly challenge. The challenge was “to create a media release about something happening this month.” I won with the Breast Health topic for Breast Cancer awareness month! How exciting!
As the world turns pink in October for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the 22 Campaign helps offset the negative messages of fear. Healthy breasts do not get cancer! Women can be empowered through a message of love around breast health.
Love Your Breasts
(Press Release) – Sep 22, 2010
Jan Janzen, founder of The Breast Health Revolution is an activist when it comes to taking breast health back into women’s hands. Part of her platform is the 22 campaign officially launching on September 22nd. The monthly message she wants sent out to millions of women around the world is: Love Your Breasts Today!
A best-selling author about to release a new book on Breast Health, Janzen is determined to empower women into a place of action rather than inundate them with messages of fear and intimidation.
“Healthy breasts don’t get cancer” is her slogan and her 22 campaign is about women having what she calls, “happy, healthy breasts”. Definitely championing a message that is a far cry from the pink ribbon campaigns about to launch, and bucking conventional medical theories, Janzen believes that education and empowering women around breast health is the ONLY answer.
Her 22 campaign, which this month includes a video helping women to understand more about breast health will be a monthly message that will feature a photo, a short story, a poem or a quote around breast health. Why the 22nd of each month?
When you look at the numbers 22, the profile is that of a woman’s breasts. The positive message will help offset the negative message that women are supposed to look for cancer one day each month. Why not focus on loving our breasts and getting to know them intimately instead of looking for something wrong with them, asks Janzen?
By loving our breasts, learning what they need to be healthy, and taking simple steps as she teaches women around the world to do, Janzen says, “we can virtually eradicate our risk of breast cancer.” Now, isn’t that an interesting thought!
